While the riders competing in the MotoGP world championship were on the plane returning from the Malaysian Grand Prix, a number of test teams met at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit.

Monday and Tuesday, five structures benefited from the mild Andalusian climate to refine the 2020 prototypes of the premier category, even if the first day was relatively unproductive, with a wet track due to the rain of the previous night and windy in the morning. However, the situation improved during the afternoon and yesterday the day was sunny, which allowed the teams to work efficiently.

We were thus able to see Sylvain Guintoli on the Suzuki GSX-RR equipped with its new engine which was quickly penalized in Japan, Dani Pedrosa on his KTM with the original frame, Stefan bradl do race simulations on the 2020 Honda, as well as the WP prototype (a Yamaha R1 equipped with a carbon fork and brakes) driven by Ricard Cardus and the Michelin prototype (a Honda CB 1000 RR) which undoubtedly evaluated new tires from the French manufacturer.

The times have obviously not been made public and most of these machines, with the exception of course of the WP and Michelin prototypes, will be on track again from November 19 on the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, this time at hands of official pilots…

In the cover photo, a typical example of what happens during private tests: the use of impressive control equipment, generally packed with sensors, to develop future parts in the premier category...

Note: whether in Aragón and Valencia where Aprilia, KTM and Ducati toured between the Motegi and Phillip Island Grands Prix, in Jerez with Ducati and Aprilia last week, or during these last two days on the same circuit, no trace from Yamaha which, however, would be preparing great things on the engine side for next year…
