At the end of the first day of the Aragón Grand Prix, Maverick Viñales, Fabio Quartararo, Franco Morbidelli, Joan Mir, Cal Crutchlow, Aleix Espargaró, Pol Espargaró, Álex Márquez, Takaaki Nakagami and Álex Rins provisionally pre-qualified for Q2.

They did it in the afternoon, with track temperatures of around 23°, while the first free practice session, although postponed by half an hour in the morning, did not offer than an asphalt at 12° to the 21 drivers present in the absence of Valentino Rossi.

This morning, FP3 is postponed by an hour so that the bitumen warms up a few degrees. Will this be enough to modify the provisional hierarchy?

Opinions are divided between those, like John Zarco, who think that the die is cast, and those, like Aleix Espargaro, who anticipate a modification of the provisional hierarchy at the end of the session.

A first element of response is provided by the Moto3 who have just concluded their session with times generally far from those of yesterday, at least as far as the top of the hierarchy is concerned...

As the MotoGP riders prepare to take the stage, the sun is shining but the temperatures remain low but passable, with 10° in the air and 14° on the ground. As expected, the wind has diminished, reaching only 5 km/h, which will not displease the Ducati...

When the red lights go out... Stefan bradl is the quickest to set off on the track, under the eyes of around ten drivers who prefer to wait in their box!

Everyone uses a soft front tire while the choice is more shared when it comes to the rear.

Franco Morbidelli recorded the first benchmark in 1'52.098 then 1'50.448 before handing over the leadership to his teammate fabio quartararo in 1'49.810.

The most Brazilian of the Italians regains the advantage in 1'49.797 then the French achieves 1'49.194, but this little game of sleight of hand between the Petronas drivers is temporarily interrupted by Takaaki Nakagami thanks to 1'49.172, until The Devil imposes a 1'49.106 in his fifth flying lap and 1'49.106 on the next pass.

At this point in the session, Johann Zarco, Maverick Vinales and Joan Mir finally hit the trail.

As a reminder, the entry ticket for Q2 is currently at 1'48.839, the time achieved by alex rins, last pre-qualified yesterday.

At mid-session, the hierarchy is made up of Fabio Quartararo, Takaaki Nakagami, Maverick Viñales, Franco Morbidelli, Álex Rins, Álex Márquez, Joan Mir, Cal Crutchlow, Danilo Petrucci and Aleix Espargaró.

The first Ducati therefore only appears in 9th position, despite the absence of wind.

Johann zarco only did three flying laps before returning to his box. It currently appears at the bottom line of the ranking.

On resumption, Takaaki Nakagami imposes 1'48.710, a faster time than those he achieved yesterday: Aleix Espargaró was right !

Andrea Dovizioso makes a minor mistake at turn #6.

Meanwhile, Takaaki Nakagami improves to 1'48.406 then 1'48.374. The good performance of the Hondas is completed by the fourth place ofAlex Marquez, in full upward spiral.

11 minutes from the checkered flag, Francesco Bagnaia (finally) places his Ducati in fourth position. In the process, Joan mir imposes his Suzuki in third place: Things seem to be moving…

At the moment, fabio quartararo fell in the disastrous turn 14 and, unfortunately, the French driver seemed to be in pain, holding his shoulder and then his hip. He is evacuated on a stretcher to the medical center.

Jack Miller decides to restore the Ducati image by placing his GP 20 in second place: he is the first rider to enter the top 10 in the combined.

Three minutes from the end of the session, Franco Morbidelli accelerates in 1'47.859, not only the best time of the session so far, but also a better time than the one he achieved yesterday.

Pol Espargaro, Alex Marquez and Miguel Oliveira then push hard and enter the top five of the session.

Cal Crutchlow confirms the good performance of the Hondas by achieving the second time of the session while the time of Jack Miller appears to have been invalidated due to yellow flags due to the fall of Fabio Quartararo.

Finally, Maverick Viñales, Franco Morbidelli, Fabio Quartararo, Cal Crutchlow, Pol Espargaró, Joan Mir, Álex Márquez, Takaaki Nakagami, Álex Rins and Aleix Espargaró are pre-qualified for Q2.

We are awaiting news which we hope will be reassuring from fabio quartararo...

Update: Fabio Quartararo has nothing broken and is OK (Petronas information). He has hip pain and was seen on a scooter with a kickstand. After leaving the medical center, he went to the mobile clinic (Canal+).
