Drivers often take advantage of the warm-up to finalize their choice of tires and/or test a final adjustment: They have 20 minutes for this and every second counts...

The slightly cloudy sky this morning nevertheless reveals an autumnal sun which tries to warm up temperatures currently set at 12° in the air and 15° on the ground in Alcañiz.

When the red lights go out... Joan mir sets off first to benefit from a clear track.

The world championship leader Suzuki rider was hoping for better than qualifying in 12th place and is counting on his GSX–RR to make a strong comeback in the race.

His teammate Alex Rins only does one lap before returning to his box while Maverick Vinales reached a few minutes before hitting the trail.

The tire display system does not work.

Cal Crutchlow is the first to go below the 1'50 mark at the end of the second flying lap, before conceding command to Pol Espargaro in 1'49.192.

Franco Morbidelli, the fastest at the end of the first flying lap, regained command a little after mid-session in 1'49.014 while fabio quartararo places his M1 in 3rd position.

Alex Marquez then achieves 1'48.795 as the last five minutes approach.

Takaaki Nakagami then reinforces Honda's domination, completely freed since its officialization next year with a factory RC213V in the LCR team.

Franco Morbidelli does not intend to let go of the lead so easily and achieves 1'48.656 with two minutes remaining in the session, but Takaaki Nakagami definitely asserts itself as a contender for victory: 1'48.565.

The warm up ends with the fall of Tito Rabat at turn #5.
