Here we are in Jerez under a benevolent sky which will ensure that this Spanish Grand Prix takes place in the best possible conditions. This fourth match of the season promises another great spectacle as the gaps between the high-flying protagonists are so tight. And not to spoil anything, we once again have our two Frenchmen Quartararo and Zarco able to play the main roles. No doubt, there is nothing else to do this Sunday afternoon than follow this Grand Prix!

Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) scored his fourth consecutive pole in Andalusia. A series which began during the 2019 Spanish Grand Prix. He is the first driver to accomplish such a feat in the premier category on the track of Jerez. This is also the first time that Fabio Quartararo has had two poles in a row, since 2020 with the Le Mans-Aragón double. With 12 poles on the clock, he is now at the level of Johnny Ceccoto and his teammate Maverick Vinales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP). Seven of his previous 11 poles have resulted in a podium finish. On three occasions, he even won. This was also the case last year for the two rounds contested on this track and two weeks ago in Portugal.

Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT), sent and brilliantly out of the repechage, set the second time in Q2. His last front row was at the 2020 Portuguese Grand Prix. That weekend, he finished in third position, his final podium to date. Yamaha has not won the first four races of the year in the premier class since 1980, with Kenny roberts (three successes) and Jack Middelburg (1).

Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo Team), who was credited with the third time, had not been on the front row since November 2020 and this Algarve event. The second place recorded in this event constitutes his final Top 3.

Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu), ranked fifth and best rider Honda Saturday afternoon, finished fourth for his last appearance on this circuit. His best result which he has since equaled at the European Grand Prix. The last time a Honda driver qualified so well was in Portimão last season with Cal Crutchlow. The Briton was fourth on the grid.

Maverick Vinales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP), which remains on three consecutive podiums at Jerez, will start seventh: its worst qualifications on this track since this 11th place in 2018. Joan mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar), directly selected for Q2, a great first this year, will start tenth, as had already been the case during the two events organized here in 2020. The Majorcan only entered one times in the points on this appointment in MotoGP. It was last year for the Andalusian Grand Prix.

Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda Team), forced to compete in its sixth Q1, failed to save itself. This is the second time this has happened to him after Mugello 2015. The Catalan has never been this far on a MotoGP grid.

So much for the presentation of the latter Spanish Grand Prix. What will this fourth game of the year have in store for us? Before answering this question, here is the table which summarizes the facts known so far.

1,3s separates Quartararo from Miller, the Nice native masters his subject but nothing is over yet!

13 more laps and the positions at the front do not change: Quartararo ahead of Miller, Morbidelli, Bagnaia and Aleix Espargaro.

Hot hot for Morbidelli because Bagnaia is getting closer...to gain 3rd position.

Another fall for Binder in turn 13.

Bagnaia passes Morbidelli and thus takes 3rd place, potential podium…!

Up front, Miller is getting closer to Quartararo, problem?

Miller passes, Quartararo seems to have a problem with the front tire….the Nice rider is on the defensive on his machine..

There are 9 rounds left. Bagnaia arrives on the Frenchman…He passes him, the Ducati rider is 2nd

In his turn, Morbidelli passes him, the Petronas driver takes rank 3. Then, Nakagami, Mir and Espargaro A. take the Frenchman who drops back to 7th position.

The top 5 is as follows with 6 laps to go: Miller, Bagnaia, Morbidelli, Nakagami and Mir.

4 more laps, and Quartararo falls in the ranking, he is now ranked 11th. In front Morbidelli is attacking Bagnaia to gain 2nd position on the podium.

Miller is ahead, but only 1,5 seconds separate him from his pursuer Bagnaia

1 lap still in this twisty race and Miller may have the victory ahead of Bagnaia and Morbidelli.

Bravo to Miller!
