Article updated until the end of the session

The notable fact of the first MotoGP free practice sessions for the French Grand Prix is that the two Suzukis are not part of the top 10 preselected for direct passage to Q2. This is made up of Fabio Quartararo, Miguel Oliveira, Franco Morbidelli, Jack Miller, Cal Crutchlow, Johann Zarco, Valentino Rossi, Maverick Viñales, Pol Espargaró and Andrea Dovizioso.

This morning, when Fabio Quartararo set the record straight after one cautious first day, Joan mir, his most direct opponent in the championship, made a mistake at the Dunlop chicane at the worst time.

The two Hamamatsu starters will therefore have to take advantage of this 4-minute FP30 not only to fine-tune the settings in racing conditions with a full tank, but also to prepare for an attempt at double qualification Q1–Q2.

For this, they are lucky to have saved soft slick tires yesterday in FP1…

The cold sun still shines partially above the Bugatti circuit and the temperatures are now 15° in the air and 22° on the asphalt of the Sarthe circuit.

When the red lights go out... Franco Morbidelli takes up the tradition of going out first on the track.

Everyone is on soft tires, both front and rear.

Alex Rins is the fastest at the end of the first flying lap, in 1'34.637.

In the next passage, Valentino Rossi takes command in 1'33.677 ahead Danilo Petrucci and Johann Zarco. Most of the drivers started with tires that had already been used in order to study their behavior over the distance of the race...

Danilo Petrucci and Johann Zarco then improve to 1'33.340, within 5/1000 for the Frenchman.

fabio quartararo, on worn tires, then achieves 1'33.272, roughly one second off this best time of the morning. He continued his effort and then scored 1'33.096. Undoubtedly, we will have to reckon with him tomorrow!

A third of the session, Miguel Oliveira, already brilliant this morning, achieved the best time in 1'33.032.

After its spectacular fall this morning, Jack Miller goes below the 1'33 mark but is immediately dispossessed of leadership by El Diablo who, lap after lap, imperturbably improves his times.

Miguel Oliveira seems to have a technical problem while Jacks Miller et fabio quartararo reports oil on the track at the Museum. The red flags are being waved!

This was the third engine of Miguel Oliveira which has seven. It is very rare for a KTM engine to break. According to our information, it's even the first time this year...

We have now been busy cleaning the track for more than a quarter of an hour according to the instructions. Franco Uncini...

The pit lane will open at 14:05 p.m. with 17 minutes remaining in the session.

At the appointed time, the drivers carefully return to the track to warm up the tires properly. It is difficult to realize to what extent temperature influences the behavior of tires; we will do an article on this subject this winter…

Miguel Oliveira seems pursued by bad luck and falls in his throwing lap at the Chapel.

Jack Miller and Johann Zarco have still not left whileAlex Rins suffered his second fall of the day and that Valentino Rossi has already returned to his box...

Johann zarco takes the track 10 minutes from the checkered flag, Jack Miller, no.

fabio quartararo improves in 1'32.658 while Franco Morbidelli, Danilo Petrucci and Maverick Vinales placed in the top five.

Pol Espargaro comes to join the game and, once again, the two Petronas drivers compete for first place, Franco Morbidelli who was so far 9/1000 behind his teammate scoring 1'32.533.

Three minutes from the checkered flag, Valentino Rossi goes back to sixth place, but it's his teammate Maverick Vinales which is inserted between Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo. The four Yamahas are in the first six places, including three in the first three places!

Doctor continues its effort and it is now the four Yamahas who occupy the first four places!

In his last turn, fabio quartararo snatches the best time in 1'32.528, only 2 tenths from his best time this morning: Not bad for adjustments for the race!
