After the fire which ravaged 80% of the installations of the Argentinian circuit, reconstruction work begins this Monday, with the aim of restoring it as quickly as possible to meet the competition calendar planned for this year, and in particular to host the MotoGP in the fall.

In this fire, which took place during the night from Friday to Saturday and fortunately caused no casualties, around 80% of the facilities were destroyed: the stands, the press room, the race management and the VIP lounges. . The flames appeared around 23 p.m. on Friday and it took firefighters 8 hours to bring this spectacular fire under control.

Thanks to the action of the firefighters, the automobile museum, the control tower, medical facilities and other offices located at the ends of the premises did not suffer any significant damage. The museum should be able to open its doors tomorrow, Tuesday.

According to local media, it appears that sparks from welding work in progress on one of the terraces affected an electrical panel, which caught fire. An insignificant accident, which literally unleashed hell: the fire was difficult to access for firefighters because it was located high up and the wind fanned the flames.

Although the circuit is insured against fire damage and work has already started on Monday, it will certainly take a long time to rebuild this important area and be able to host the competitions.
