The summer break is useful for recharging the batteries, but for some MotoGP riders, it is also an opportunity to completely overhaul. This is the case of Loris Baz who went to have surgery on his right arm. Suffering from compartment syndrome, the Frenchman from the Avintia team hopes to put an end to his painful Grands Prix in this first part of the season. Because when hostilities resume, we will have to be convincing to ensure our future beyond this 2017 financial year...

The surgery had been planned and took place under the direction of Dr Olivier Dufour in Aix en Provence. A doctor suggested by a friend… After 40 minutes on the pool table, things were handled as they should be: “ I suffered from compartment syndrome, something quite common among pilots. To be honest, I've never had this problem with my arms before, but this year the bike is particularly physical » commented Loris on MotoGP.com.

« I started to have pain from Qatar. This is also what prevented me from fighting against Jorge until the end. In Argentina, things were a little better, but in Jerez and Le Mans, this pain returned and was accentuated in Mugello. At first I thought it was tendinitis, but I was eventually diagnosed with compartment syndrome. After consulting several doctors, an operation was necessary ».

« I tried to find a specialist and Randy de Puniet suggested Doctor Dufour. I now have to rest for a week and I can resume training to be 100% ready for Brno ».

Driver of a GP15 within the Avintia team, Loris Baz is also fifteenth in the championship with a place of eighth as best result. Here he is with 29 days left to recover from his operation, before taking up the collar again in Brno.
