The Spanish driver will have to completely review his start to the year due to a major operation which was not planned.

Dani Pedrosa didn't expect to start 2019 this way. In an official statement he indicated that he had been “a double fracture of the right clavicle completely unexpectedly just by making a sudden movement. » Unfortunately, once the surprise wore off, this completely unexpected injury turned out to be very problematic: “Over the years I have injured this area several times and the last time it was a triple fracture and it ended up with ossicles. The central part no longer receives enough blood, which creates osteoporosis. A solution is therefore necessary to regenerate the bone and achieve adequate healing. After having undergone several medical examinations and consulting different doctors, the effective recommendation is a complete healing of the bone. »

To do this, the Spanish pilot will face a major operation and a demanding recovery over the coming months. He will first begin with tissue repair surgery with a transplant of his own stem cells. This will allow the best and most effective consolidation of the bone possible.

This injury comes at the worst time for the new KTM test rider who was due to start a test program at the start of the year. Unfortunately, his recovery will take time and he will not be able to fulfill his role immediately. A situation which inevitably upsets him: “I thank KTM for their support. We are very enthusiastic about the work we are doing and that is why I want to be in the best possible physical condition for this task. For me the challenge does not end. » However, he has already carried out a first test which will allow him to give information to KTM in order to guide the development of the machines.
