Luca marini

For the Italian colony in MotoGP, of which Valentino Rossi's team equipped with Ducati is not the least of the representatives, it is an important weekend which is announced on a track of Mugello which will play the Grand Prix of Italy. During this weapons vigil, Luca Marini offered himself an outing in which he analyzed both his situation and that of the VR46. An academy where the only reference is the result, and not a name, however prestigious it may be...

Luca marini is the younger half-brother of a Valentino Rossi to which he owes a lot, like the rest of his VR46 peers who now play with him in MotoGP. With Morbidely, bagnaia et Bezzecchi, it is the symbol of the great success of an academy which does more than a federation to reveal young national talents. The Italian explains on mowmag what this structure brought him: “ I don't know what it means to train alone, because since I started, I've always been in a group. In my opinion it's a good opportunity, a chance to evaluate yourself. This is not a guaranteed benefit, it is something we normally do, but you have to be courageous and intelligent to take advantage of it because there are other pilots who trained in a group and who did not benefit 100% from it ».

« The Academy is a great experience for this reason. It's about understanding your situation and trying to be humble to learn from others, of your opponents, who are also your training partners. See where they are strong, understand what you are lacking and try to learn, exchange information calmly without hiding anything " precise Marini who adds: “ we experience the group in a positive way, trying, as I said, to learn. When the Academy was born there was no set goal, certainly Vale didn't think the four of us would make it to MotoGP. It was a nice surprise ».

Luca Marini: “ Valentino Rossi is now racing in a car and it is now very difficult to make comparisons with the past »

But for this “group” to remain of high quality, we must also call into question our acquired knowledge and mourn certainties…” Valentino Rossi still has plenty of advice, but times have changed » says Marini. " At first he was the reference for all of us, but then things changed at the Academy where the driver to follow is always the one who obtains the best results. Vale's role was very important when he was racing and we were not yet in MotoGP, because we had him as a reference. But then the reference changed ».

He explains : " at the beginning it was Franco Morbidelli who had the best results and he became the reference point and we all tried to grow every day to beat him. Then it was Pecco Bagnaia who made a big qualitative leap to win the championship, and now he is the reference ". And Red ? " Now he runs in the car. It's clear he can't always be there, but he always has plenty of advice for everyone. He is always present. Motorcycling has changed a lot and it is therefore now very difficult to make comparisons with the past ».

Luca marini ends with his situation and what he hopes for this weekend in front of his audience: “ I'm happy with how I've grown as a driver, my speed this season and the team, because the team has also grown a lot compared to last year. I really like Mugello and my dream is to ride on the podium, perhaps Win. This is what I will try to do again this year, but in MotoGP you never know, because you have to fight against 20 other top riders in each race ».
