This year 2020 is a test for everyone and if the coronavirus is a legitimate health concern, it will also have a strong economic and social consequence. An observation which convinces us that we will be talking about this pandemic for a long time to come, which is still ongoing. In MotoGP, the question of the survival of the paddock is only beginning to arise. And it will be relevant every season. Lucio Cecchinello, boss of an LCR Honda team, prepares people's minds for difficult times...

At the moment, being the boss of a company with a human dimension is, to say the least, an anxiety-provoking situation. And for good reason: the world has stopped spinning. Flows have stopped, customers are confined, and the great uncertainty that has arisen hardly encourages people to make plans on the comet.

However, we can be certain of one thing: we will have to survive and act accordingly for a while. The Grand Prix paddock understood this well. Dorna erected a rampart around him to protect him from the first shock. But then you will have to rely on your own resources. Lucio Cecchinello is aware of this and describes what awaits us in an interview on the site Moto.it : " I don't think there will be major technical changes, because when there are, the costs increase. I expect big problems for 2021 though, as everyone will be in big trouble »

He specifies : " it will be impossible for our sponsors to confirm the 2020 figures. I hope that the manufacturers will be more collaborative with the satellite teams, perhaps by putting some money towards the development of their teams rather than the development of their bike . »

The question will also arise with the pilots: “ they will necessarily also suffer this situation. The market will suffer a major backlash. I hope Crutchlow and Nakagami will still be LCR drivers in 2021, but that's not for me to decide as they both have a direct contract with HRC. Cal has started talking to them, but it's still too early. »

Especially since the 2020 season has not yet been launched… “ Everyone, including the manufacturers, is keen to get back on the track as soon as possible. We are open to all solutions, even to run with the minimum number of people, i.e. 25 instead of 40. The problem, however, is that governments have not yet given precise guidelines for the sport. " In France however, we are considering opening the circuits for the 15 June .
