Lucio Cecchinello even had Zarco as his driver...

Lucio Cecchinello's LCR team is the same age as the number of seasons completed by Valentino Rossi. And he takes a date to overtake the Doctor in this longevity since he announces that he will still be in MotoGP until at least 2026. With Honda? Answer below...

In this year which marks its 25th anniversary, the team LCR is pleased to announce its presence in MotoGP until 2026. The independent team currently competes in MotoGP and will continue to do so after signing a 5-year contract with IRTA and Dorna.

The team has come a long way since its beginnings with two technicians and a van in 1996, when Lucio decided to start his own team. After spending nine years in the 125cc category, then 250cc in 2002, the LCR team has competed in MotoGP since 2006. In 2019, LCR also entered the category MotoE.

The team of Cecchinello obtained a total of 85 podiums and 24 victories over the years in all categories in which it has participated and is always committed to being a professional, multicultural and hardworking team, with the full support of Honda during the last years.

Lucio Cecchinello and his flock have come a long way

Lucio Cecchinello comments: " First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who worked with the LCR team since January 1996, when we received our very first contractual participation in the World Championship as a team. I can't believe it's been 25 years! A quarter of a century has lived with the drivers and staff of the LCR team working at full speed on the track and believe me, even off the track… »

He adds : " it is a great honor for me to announce that LCR has recently renewed with IRTA and Dorna its participation in the MotoGP category contract until 2026. I am grateful to be able to continue participating in the premier category for another 5 years and I can't wait to start a new chapter in the history of LCR with our two riders Taka and Alex on a complete factory bike. See you soon on the track and surely very soon on television ". In 2021, but also in 2022, the LCR team will have for the first time in its history two latest generation RC213Vs, for Nakagami et Alex Marquez.
