MotoGP Malaysia J3, Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha/6): "I felt a blockage at the rear, but it was Miller's head"

Fabio Quartararo was very good in Malaysia, as usual. After a wonderful fifth place in the Sprint yesterday, he repeated with sixth place this Sunday, his best result in a Grand Prix this season. The Frenchman raced while being physically affected: in fact, he was directly involved in this huge collision at the start of the race, the same one that caused a red flag. Fortunately, he managed to set off again – not without limping – to get this rather impressive result.

"El Diablo", after equalling his best result in Sprint yesterday, climbed to sixth place at the finish in Sepang. With a very good pace throughout the event, he brings back big points from Malaysia, one of the circuits that suits him best. « I didn't think I would have such a good race, because unfortunately we started with a tire that was already quite worn, it had more than four laps. We took a tire that had already been used to attack earlier in the weekend, which didn't help. But overall, I'm happy, even if there are still details to improve. The electronics are better, but you can't gain half a second just by increasing grip. Winter will be a real challenge for engineers" he confided to the microphones of GP One the arrival.

 

 

Yet it could have all ended after just one corner. Fabio Quartarao was caught in a huge crash involving the two KTM officials, Jack Miller and Brad Binder. Brad and Quartararo got up without delay, but Miller, conscious from the start, remained on the ground. "I don't know what happened, I haven't seen the images yet. It seems to me that someone touched me inside, then I felt a blockage: it was Miller's head. Physically, I'm fine. I have a little pain in my shoulder and leg but I'm fine. » he continued.

 

 

Later, the cameras of the international production revealed to us images of Jack Miller walking in the paddock, meaning that his condition was more than good. "We saved ourselves from a nasty fall, especially for Brad and Jack. Fortunately, the consequences of the fall were not too serious. I was glad to see him in the paddock because the crash was scary. » he concluded.
