Jack Miller

Jack Miller seems to have returned to normal since his last national Grand Prix in Australia where he had the misfortune of being caught by Alex Marquez. Diminished in Malaysia, he was discreet and was content with sixth place in the final, although he still started from a further 14th place. The fact remains that he is in the Sepang rankings as the penultimate Ducati listed, the wooden spoon going to Johann Zarco. JackAss did less well than Bagnaia and Bastianini, certainly, but also than Bezzecchi the rookie.

Jack Miller started from the sixth row, got stuck in the peloton until he almost fell and finished the first lap in 16th place. Then the Australian went into comeback mode and was already in the top 10 by the 7th lap. Despite his left leg being sore since Philip Island, he continued to push hard until he passed Marc Marquez on the last lap of the race for 6th place.

« It wasn't an ideal day, but it wasn't a bad day either » commented the one who will join the ranks of KTM in a few weeks. “ I am very happy with my performance », summarized the Australian. “ Of course, it didn't help that I was relegated to 21st place in the first round. I had the worst start of my Grand Prix career ».

Jack Miller (43) also left behind his future Red Bull KTM teammate Brad Binder (33)

Jack Miller: “I was hit in the neck by pieces of rubber at 250 km/h"

He adds : " my start itself wasn't bad, but then I was sandwiched with the start line right in front of me, I had to cut the throttle way too early before the first corner, I was pushed outwards. At least I can say I survived the first round without an accident ", said Miller. “ After that I found my rhythm and started knocking out one rider after another ».

« The bike helped me, it was really good ", states Miller. " Nevertheless, it was a difficult race. Yesterday, I fell on my left leg a second time and as anyone can imagine, my body looks like toast. I couldn't use my leg as usual, the rest of my body had to step in and compensate for the lack of leg strength. Now I can feel the bruises, there's no doubt about it ».

Jack Miller was all the more happy that he was able to put pressure on until the end of the race and overtake Marc Marquez in the final sprint. “ It wasn't fantastic, but at least we had a pretty consistent pace throughout the race. I was able to overtake Marc on the last lap, even though I had already put a lot of stress on my front tire ". Then he finishes: “ it was quite a brutal race, especially in the first stages behind everyone, when I was hit in the neck by pieces of rubber at 250 km/h. When I was free, it was a little easier, the air was fresher, my neck stopped boiling! ».
