Pecco Bagnaia Malaysia

Jorge Martin tried to put pressure on Pecco Bagnaia on this first day in Malaysia, but the Italian was unfazed. First in FP1 and then in Practice, he has an ideal start to his weekend at Sepang, a circuit he particularly likes. The official Ducati was flamboyant, but Jorge Martin, despite a fall and a few mistakes, is still in his wake. Clearly, it will be difficult for him to get rid of his rival, especially if Bastianini, Marquez or a surprising Maverick Vinales do not come in between.

Bagnaia was particularly satisfied with this first day on this magnificent track designed by Tilke. « The times were really fast, the feeling is excellent. Today we didn't waste any time. We were able to do a lot of laps with a good average speed, and try both bikes, which is important. Jorge Martin was more consistent because he started with new tires » he said to the microphones of Sky Sports.

However, there are still some difficulties to overcome on this extremely technical circuit. « I lack feeling in the second sector, at turn 5.. For the rest, it's fine. We don't use the brakes in this corner, it's all a question of position on the bike. It's more set "on the back" and that helps me throughout the lap, except here" he continued, going into detail.

Of course, he had a few words for his rival, but without the slightest hint of animosity, and without even mentioning what happened at the end of FP1: Martin came to stick to Bagnaia to remind him that he was there (see video above): « It is difficult to achieve perfect balance on this track.. Jorge Martin is very strong in turn 5, but we improved in turn 12 as well. Clearly, we have made progress. » he concluded.
