Pedro Acosta delivered an encouraging performance in the opening free practice sessions of the Malaysian Grand Prix. The young Spaniard, who made his MotoGP debut at the same circuit a few months ago, narrowly missed out on qualifying directly for Q2.
Peter Acosta, the young prodigy of KTM (Team GASGAS Tech3), completed the first day of testing of the Malaysian Grand Prix with a note of optimism, despite its absence in Q2. On the circuit where he made his debut during the MotoGP rookie test nine months ago, Acosta almost crossed the finish line for the final phase of qualifying, failing by just 76 thousandths of a second.
To claim the Q2, the pilot must still shine during the Q1, where only the first two will be promoted to the ten already qualified.
Pedro Acosta: “ I'm not too worried »
« It was a good day overall, even though we didn't reach Q2" , said Acosta, visibly satisfied with his performance. We were not far from it, but I'm not too worried, because usually, we are progressing from one day to the next"
Peter Acosta, who also suffered a fall this Friday at Sepang, shows determination to maximize his efforts during the following tests. We will prepare well tomorrow and then we will finalize everything in FP2" he added confidently. Our pace was good all day, so let's try to continue on this path and qualify well on the grid."
His positive attitude and ability to learn quickly are valuable assets for this rising driver. With the support of his team and adequate preparation, Acosta hopes to turn his promising performances into concrete results in qualifying and the race in Malaysia.
