Alex Marquez is very good in Malaysia, but unfortunately for him, no one talks about it. Remember: here, he won the Sprint last year, before leaving Sunday's victory to Enea Bastianini. It's one of his favorite tracks, and he showed it again today. First Ducati GP23 on the grid, first row, and fourth at the finish in the short format: that's a good Saturday for the one we hardly talked about all year.
Little brother Marquez is going through this Grand Prix season without shining, to say the least. And yet, he was in better shape than ever at Sepang. Overshadowed – once again – by his brother but also by the title race between Pecco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin, he confides. « I started well, the problem is that those in front of me started very well. We had a good race, the pace was around fifth, maybe fourth. because I didn't expect Marc to have so many » he said upon arrival.

Obviously, it was impossible for him to compete with the top four, who are now the regular leaders of this championship. They dominate every race. "But we have to be happy with this race and tomorrow the goal will be more or less the same." he added, without being able to hope for much better than a new top 5.
However, everything could change if rain appears during Sunday's race. That could spice up the end of the championship. "Anything can happen if it rains, but for now we are ready to be in the top 5". The mission, for him, will be more about defending than attacking, but he could be the recipient of a nice gift if one of the Fantastic Four falls before him.
