Marc Márquez and his right shoulder is a hot topic at Honda, on the eve of the return of MotoGP for a test at Sepang. It will be recalled that the limb was operated on at the end of November and that this surgery should not cause any problems considering what he had suffered on the left side in the same area last year. But it doesn't happen like that. On the sportfair website, he goes into detail about this situation…

A concern admitted in public during a delivery of prizes in Catalonia, intensive karting tours to wake up fainted muscles as shown a snapshot on his social network…It is now common knowledge that Marc Márquez does not exactly have the desired level of form as the grueling Sepang test looms on the horizon.

As a result, the eight-time World Champion is working hard to recover from this operation which should not have led to such a complicated convalescence: “ the operation seemed simpler a priori, but not the recovery times. For this reason, I anticipated entering the operating room as much as possible, prioritizing my recovery. Everything seemed simpler, but rehabilitation is more complex, with some difficulties. Over the past few weeks, we have taken a step forward, but before January 6, I was not at all optimistic. »

He then goes into detail: “ I do two hours of rehabilitation in the morning and two more in the afternoon. I dedicate almost the whole day to my body in order to be as fit as possible for the Sepang test. But always thinking that the first Grand Prix is in Qatar in March, and that deadlines must be respected. The recovery will not be more intense than last year. It was less painful, but more difficult. I've been told before that when you open a shoulder there are a lot of nerves and muscles and you can hit something very important for shoulder mobility and strength. This is what we are working on. »

« Until two weeks ago, I had no strength and couldn't even lift a glass of water. But in recent days the nerve started to be stimulated and we improved a lot » reveals the Honda official.

To recover, Márquez once again skipped the holidays, a situation which did not weigh on him anyway: “ Alberto Puig analyzes everything and, when we met with the doctors, one of the questions he asked me was whether I was ready to spend another winter of convalescence. But I know that if I want to achieve my dreams, I have to make sacrifices and set priorities. Even though my vacation was already organized, I had to cancel everything because sacrifice is the only way to continue fighting for titles ". The motivation never wavered...
