Marc Marquez returns to his favorite Sachsenring circuit with the intention of fighting for victory again after almost three years without success. The Catalan rider hopes to enjoy riding his Ducati Desmosedici GP23 again, although he admits that the task will not be easy.
On the eve of German Grand Prix, Marquez clarified that he had not set any specific objectives for this race, emphasizing that he was not concerned about possible bad results: “ One can not deny it, we arrived at a circuit that has historically been good for my driving style. If we have a good weekend like we should, we can make things difficult for both Pecco and Martín, who are one step ahead of everyone."
The pilot of the Gresini Racing Team prefers to remain cautious, expecting a very competitive race where he will have to fight for each position: “ in 2021 I managed to win and last year I managed to destroy myself. It depends on how you start and find yourself. I'm realistic and by having a good weekend we can make things interesting, but we won't dominate at all."
This week-end, Peter Acosta has his last chance to become the youngest driver to win in MotoGP, a record held by Marquez since 2013, 20 years and 60 days : " It makes no difference if he beats my record or not. He will continue to be a great driver and do great things in the future » he commented on the subject.
Marc Marquez: “ Hamilton buying Gresini? I know Nadia Padovani and it won't be easy for him »
The Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, the October 24, 2021, was the last time that Marc Marquez stood on the top step of a podium; almost 1 days later, he hopes to put an end to this long drought on the Sachsenring circuit: “ I didn't expect this many days, but I hope to put an end to it. If this goal is not achieved here, the end of the world will not end. I'm sure we will have more opportunities."
During the summer holidays, Ducati will celebrate its big annual party, World Ducati Week, in Misano from July 26 to 28. This will be the first major event of Marquez as official driver Ducati, and he rejoices at this opportunity: “ Domenicali told me it was a Ducati event, very real and beautiful, that he's a different fan than Grand Prix. It's really the one who buys the bike and who benefits from it. I also participated in the Honda one, but here it will be something different."
Rumors are circulating concerning a possible takeover of the Gresini structure by Lewis Hamilton. Marc Marquez commented on this possibility as unlikely, while emphasizing the importance of such rumors for MotoGP: “ to me it's the saying that for better or worse, the important thing is that they're talking about you. These type of rumors are good for MotoGP, we don't know if they are true or not. I know Nadia and it won't be easy for him, " smiled Marquez.
