Marco Bezzecchi Assen

Marco Bezzecchi is on an upward slope, even though he knows that Aprilia still has a long way to go to reach Ducati's level.

Since his victory at Silverstone at the end of May, Marco Bezzecchi is on an upward slope. It's hard to say whether this is more due to Aprilia's progress or his takeover of the RS-GP, but the fact is that the Italian is stringing together solid results with two top 8s at Aragon, a top 6 and a top 5 at Mugello and two podiums at Assen last weekend. Although he still needs to improve his consistency in qualifying, it's undeniable that he's gradually establishing himself as one of the strong men at the front.

Bezzecchi knows that Aprilia still has a long way to go to reach Ducati's level and that the RS-GP still suffers from problems that can hamper riding on certain tracks, however he remains satisfied with its evolution.

"I keep saying it, but our bike is competitive. It's very strong at the front, but stability-wise, it's not quite there. Especially on a circuit like Assen, where you really need a smooth style and a lot of corner speed. It's not easy to be smooth, to ride smoothly, every lap. And we struggle even more with new tires than with used tires. Since the beginning of the year, we've already made progress on that front, but the Ducatis are perfect. We're looking for perfection.", he told GP One.

There are two Grands Prix left before the summer break, and if Bezzecchi continues his momentum, he could help Aprilia move up a level in the championship. While the manufacturer is second behind Ducati, the #72 is only 18 points behind fourth-placed Franco Morbidelli. He would then become the first strong man after the leading trio of the Márquez brothers and Francesco Bagnaia.

"We're progressing and working hard, I can't complain. But I'm also very demanding of myself. In the end, I have to say that we worked pretty well throughout the weekend. I showed speed and competitiveness. We're not yet at the perfect level everywhere, but we're hard workers and we'll continue to improve."he concluded.
