Concerning Marc Marquez and his first appearance on the Ducati, Melandri admits to being partially surprised: “ yes, in a sense, because he can no longer drive like before. He will certainly shine in certain races, but overall, its level will be similar to this one. He rode well, but the leaders were impressive. MotoGP has evolved a lot: without Acosta, we would have seen few overtakes ».
As for the title contenders, Melandri does not see any serious competitor for Francis Bagnaia : “ personally, I don't see any rival equal to it. Bagnaia was already the strongest at the start of last year. The Ducati GP24 has made further progress, which makes it difficult for everyone, especially those on the GP23 ».

Melandri nevertheless praises Brad Binder, considering him a serious contender for the title against bagnaia : “ Binder is underestimated, but he is extremely talented and consistent. In my opinion, KTM has improved and it is Bagnaia's main rival ».
Public chat Aprilia and Japanese manufacturers, Melandri expresses his disappointment, especially after the hopes aroused by Aleix Espargaró during the sprint. “ Aprilia has shown signs of strength, but they have not been constant. As for the Japanese, I fear that ultimately there will be no more Japanese motorcycles in MotoGP”.
Peter Acosta particularly impressed Melandri : " Acosta was extraordinary. His management of overtaking and his composure were remarkable. Even though he knew he wouldn't finish in front, this experience will be valuable to him ».
Concerning fabio quartararo and its future, Melandri considering InSella.it a complex situation: watching Quartararo before the start spoke volumes... To win, you'd need a Ducati, but if it's not an official one... Look at Martin. KTM could be an option, but I had thought Marquez would go there this year… ».
