MotoGP, Márquez dominant until 2022: Honda has learned nothing from the Valentino Rossi lesson

The current contract of Márquez with Honda, where he spent his entire MotoGP career, expires at the end of next year, along with the contracts of all other top and official riders. Although neither Honda ni Márquez have yet to publicly announce their 2021/22 discussions, the meetings started a few months ago already and have been positive so far. The last meeting between the president of Honda, Yoshishige Nomura et Márquez took place during the Austrian Grand Prix in August.

We already take for granted only a two-year contract extension. “ For our part, we will do everything possible so that Marc feels comfortable with us and does not think of leaving” said Alberto puig, the manager of the Honda team. Echoing this, the six-time champion stressed that he sees his long-term future as being at Honda, given the value and recognition he feels within the team.

To seal the new agreement, Honda should offer to Márquez a more attractive financial offer than that set for the 2018/19 seasons, and which was estimated at around 14 million euros per season. He would be the highest paid driver on the board. Despite everything, given its services, it remains good value for money!
