The Honda Repsol driver has always had a unique characteristic for a champion: he wins titles but is part of the ranking of drivers who fall the most, every year.

As the Spanish site reminds us Trademarks, last year Marc Márquez very often repeated during his interviews that he was going to try to fall less, as in this one: " I'll try. I suggested it. We'll see if I reduce my number of falls next year. » During this 2017 season, he made mistakes 27 times. He was only surpassed by Sam Lowes, who had 31 falls.

Following his crash in FP3 at the Thai Grand Prix, he currently has 17 crashes this year and is at the top of the standings ahead of Cal Crutchlow and Álvaro Bautista who have 16 and 14 respectively.

All categories combined, he is also on the podium behind Moto2 riders Stefano Manzi and Sam Lowes. The Italian has already fallen 28 times while the Briton, despite his return to the intermediate category, continues to make mistakes.

His brother, Álex, is not left out either since he has a total of 14 crashes in Moto2. These have also cost him the title once again since with a total of 133 points behind, he is statistically out of the game this year. However, this remains less than his elder, who could also count a lot more if he did not have this talent to catch up. Marc actually catches up more than he actually falls. The numbers could therefore be much higher.

The Spaniard is aware of this and knows full well that, despite his 77-point lead in the Championship, he could lose the title if he had a bad fall: “Things can still happen: there are risks, falls…” However, his main opponent, Andrea Dovizioso, remains more skeptical: “Marc would have the title, even without riding! »

Whatever happens, the native of Cervera does not intend to change his way of driving, and that is all the better for the show.
