Marc Marquez

Marc Marquez's forfeit for a concussion suffered after a fall during a Saturday motocross training session is under scrutiny. Because the announcement only took place on Wednesday in a laconic Honda press release, a shift and a tone experienced at the time of the worsening condition of the eight-time World Champion's right arm. The days that passed afterwards revealed a much more degraded state of form than initially announced. However, a reassuring trend comes from the mobile clinic.

Dr. Michael Zasa is the one who succeeded the founder of the mobile clinic, doctor Costa. He is therefore an authority in the paddock and he is aware of the drivers' medical secrets. However, given the reputation of patients, this notion of confidentiality is difficult to decline. At the very least, it is necessary to give a trend and that is precisely what he does with regard to a Marc Marquez who once again suffers the agonies of injury and loss.

The eight-time World Champion will be absent this weekend at Portimao due to concussion. The press release Honda talks about a fall during motocross training. But with his head shaking, we of course wonder about the state of his right arm: could he have also suffered a bad shock? The doctor Zasa does not directly answer this question, but he still comments on this: “ It seems to be nothing serious, fortunately ". And he adds about the Spanish pilot: “ not only will Marc Marquez be back, but in fact he's already back. He won three races and achieved important results. It is clear that his injury and the one he suffered after Jerez have left their mark, but let's say he will be a more normal champion ».

Marc Marquez, it's for better and for worse

It will be recalled that the career of Marc Marquez has never been a long, quiet river. In 9 seasons of MotoGP, he went through 122 falls including 22 this year when he missed the first two races and will therefore miss the penultimate.

In 2013, the year he arrived in MotoGP, he crashed 15 times, winning 6 Grands Prix. The following year he confirmed the title, dominating the season with 13 victories and "only" 11 falls. In 2015, the year he lost the title, he fell 13 times, winning 5 Grand Prix. He fell 17 time in 2016 with 5 victories, downright 27 opportunities in 2017 with 6 victories, and 23 time in 2018 with 9 victories. He fell 14 times in 2019 with 12 victories, in 2020, he was at two people accidents.

But at the same time, he harvested 6 world titles, 59 victories, 99 podiums... His “rescues” also helped him a lot to cope with these numerous accidents, the very ones he can no longer do. In this sense, he must fall into line, which brings him closer to “ normal champion " mentioned. We will know in the coming days if Marc Marquez will return by the end of the season for the final race in Valencia. For Honda and for himself it will perhaps be more judicious to preserve himself for the crucial off-season tests which will take place in Jerez on November 18 and 19.
