Miguel Oliveira

Miguel Oliveira is fully focused on the upcoming MotoGP season with Aprilia, a period which will also be one of a highly tense transfer market. But the Portuguese warns: he does not want to discuss a possible contract renewal at the moment. He believes he must first focus on the task at hand with the team and repay the trust they have placed in him.

The Portuguese driver explains that he wants to concentrate on his performance in MotoGP and focus on your goals with Aprilia before thinking about the contractual future. He also points out that the situation is similar for many other drivers on the grid, as most of them do not yet have a contract for the following season. He thinks the time will come naturally to address this issue, but for now, he prefers not to think about it and concentrate on his performance on the track.

On his situation, he comments: « I finished, I think, nine races last year, out of the 20 or 21 races we had. My only feeling, honestly, is that for the moment I want to repay the trust that Aprilia has placed in me and actually start doing the things they hired me to do, and that's all ».

Miguel Oliveira: “ the 2023 Aprilia is more balanced, but I think the 2024 one has untapped potential »

He adds : " for the nineteen future drivers on the grid, there is no contract, so I am as worried as they are. Ultimately, that's how it is. I don't agree to talk about next year right now. I think it's a little too early and I think we'll get to that point eventually when it's necessary. For the moment, it's not in my plans to think about it ».

He therefore puts part of his fate back in the saddle of the new RS-GP 2024, an opus which, for the moment delivers more questions than answers, while his teammate Raul fernandez, on theAprilia 2023, surprised during the last Losail test… “ I think, for now, probably the 2023 bike is more balanced, but I think the 2024 bike has untapped potential. We don't know what the bike can actually do, so we have to go out there and find out » analyzes the Portuguese the day after the tests at Qatar.

The new Aprilia customer team TrackHouse allowed Miguel Oliveira to move from the 2022 bike he rode last season to the new RS-GP24. However, the transition proved difficult for the Portuguese 29 years.
