Dovizioso

Andrea Dovizioso is making his return to MotoGP, giving up his plan for a sabbatical year organized around his passion for motocross. He had made a departure from this escapade by honoring some tests for Aprilia. But it is on a Yamaha that he returns to the race. Finally, for the moment, he is not bothering anyone since here he is at the end of the first day of the San Marino Grand Prix, 2.5s behind the best time. But with Dovi, everything is methodical and must be perfectly in place…

Andrea Dovizioso has, at the very least, great room for improvement in this San Marino Grand Prix which marks his return to competition. 2.5s is the gap which separates him from his last place with the first one. But the Italian hasn't found the right seat yet and overall he has a strange feeling after the first day in Misano… “ The bike cannot be compared to the Aprilia or the Ducati ", says Dovi. “ I didn't expect anything else. I'm not at the point where I can say I feel good ».

This is also due to the size of the motorcycle and its morphology explains Dovizioso, who measures 1,65 meters: “ it's probably the greatest bike in the world championship. I haven't pushed yet because I have to get used to everything first. Of course I have to improve, but with my size it probably takes a while. However, the return feels good, even if I was far from my limit ».

Dovizioso: “ the Yamaha I rode eight years ago is comparable to this machine«

Dovizioso currently rides a 2019 A-spec Yamaha, but in 2022 he will be a true factory rider with the new Malaysian Yamaha team. Until then, he must be patient. “ It's too early to talk about details. But what I can say: the Yamaha I rode eight years ago is comparable to this machine. The approach of Japanese engineers hasn't changed, so I'm not surprised », continues the 35-year-old pilot who finishes: “ being here with all the pilots is all I missedyou”.

By the way, his illustrious teammate Valentino Rossi commented on his performance: “ we spoke with 'Dovi' yesterday and today after FP1, we already have some feedback. It's nice to chat with him because he is very experienced and very meticulous about the set-up. We agreed, it wasn't easy for him, he was far from the slopes even if he had done a few tests with Aprilia, but it seems to me that he already has fairly clear ideas ».
