lecuona

Iker Lecuona will undoubtedly not have spent a peaceful night between Friday and this Saturday which promises to be the second day of the San Marino Grand Prix. Indeed, during the wet FP2, the Tech3 KTM rider performed a trick that he would have done well without. If the Spaniard recovered at first, he then went to see a doctor and there is no doubt that waking up from a restless sleep will be painful...

Iker Lecuona seemed to control his RC16 quite well in the rain of the FP2 à Misano given the times, but these conditions are always random and can bring the best or the worst. It was the latter that the team noticed with horror KTM Tech3 when his rain specialist, a qualifier confirmed by a 6th place in Spielberg, was thrown from his KTM RC16 in a manner as violent as it was spectacular.

lecuona was then taken to the medical center, where fortunately no broken bones were found. But the 21-year-old canceled all media debriefings due to bruising and pain.

No broken bones: Iker Lecuona after FP2 crash

Lecuona: “I have pain in my right foot"

Iker later reported: “ in the dry FP1 we had a lot of problems. We tried something, but it didn't work well. The bike was difficult to turn, but that's important on this track. The rain in FP2 then destroyed all opportunities for improvement".

"We rode in the rain in FP2, which I normally like. But there was a lack of rear wheel grip. We changed the front tire, but on the third lap I had a bit more lean angle than usual in turn 1 and that's why I had this huge highside. Luckily I didn't have anything broken.. But my right foot hurts. I will try to be well by Saturday ».
