Casa Particular in Viñales

At the end of a day made difficult by track conditions, two Aprilias ranked in the top 10. But there were three…

Indeed, the Aprilia Racing Gresini Team came out in force on the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli by lining up Lorenzo Savadori in addition toAleix Espargaro et Maverick Vinales for for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. The last two cities have at their disposal a significant amount of data collected during various tests on the Italian Riviera circuit while Lorenzo Savadori is recovering from an injury sustained at the Austrian GP which proved more troublesome than expected, and is resuming his development work with the Test Team, focusing on performance in what for him is his domestic race.

" I I can't say that I'm still 100% physically but the situation has clearly improved, the local public will certainly give me additional motivation. We have a lot to work on, on a track that we know well and that we will face in unusual conditions compared to what we are used to. »

Indeed, with a wet track all day, the conditions were unusual, but that did not upset the Transalpine who was able to impose his RS-GP in 7th position, four places behind his leader in much better position than during of the last Grand Prix, in Austin.

Maverick Vinales, he, still in full adaptation and with partial knowledge of RS-GP, paid much more than his two teammates in this complicated situation, finishing 21st in 1'43.679.

Aleix Espargaro: « When the conditions are difficult, like today, it is always fundamental to be in the top 10. This morning, with a very wet track, I didn't have the best feeling, I lacked grip. We worked on it and we were able to improve in FP2, also because the track was drying. I waited until the last few minutes to attempt the timed lap, knowing that I would find an almost dry line on which the wet tires heated up quickly, and it worked. For tomorrow, our plan will depend a lot on the weather, given that for the moment Sunday's race looks dry. »

Lorenzo Savadori : " I told my technicians today that I couldn't wait to get back on a MotoGP, because I missed it! Today's conditions are helping me, honestly. In the wet, you attack less and take less angle, which is good for my ankle because I suffer when I have to exert pressure. Anyway, I'm happy with my situation, and for tomorrow the goal could be to go straight to Q2. It's difficult but we will try. »

Maverick Vinales: « It's definitely a different day than I expected. I was hoping to do a little better, but you have to take into account my lack of experience with the Aprilia in the wet. The positive thing is that in these conditions all reactions are slower and more obvious, which allows us to understand even better where we need to improve and work. Right now I would say braking, and now we will compare the data with Aleix and Sava who showed good pace, and we will try to take a step forward tomorrow. »
