Brad Binder stealthily appeared in the leading trio in the final moments of an eventful Q2. But this year, in MotoGP, everything can quickly change and it is ultimately from sixth position that the South African will start this Emile Romagna Grand Prix. This is because a week ago, for the Grand of San Marino, on the same Misano track, the official was only sixteenth. And this progress is encouraging to say the least…

The newcomer to MotoGP, Brad Binder, will start from sixth place on Sunday at the Marco Simoncelli World Circuit in Misano Adriatico as the second best driver in KTM. The South African actually lost his duel against his teammate Pol Espargaro. The Brno winner was just 0,3 seconds from pole.

« It was much better than last week, I am much happier. Sixth place is fantastic ", said Binder which states: “ not only is the rhythm better, but the lap time was also 1,2 seconds better than a week ago. I am satisfied with the measures we have taken. I'm riding better here now and the bike feels a lot better. The boys did a great job and got everything ready ».

Tires are always a critical factor. “ It's really difficult. Last week I had an accident in FP2, it was like ice. You just don't get any grip from the tire. But I have been warned now and you have to heat the tire very carefully. Even in qualifying on the first try the front tire didn't really seem ready, it's actually crazy ».

A problem in sector 3

Like his other KTM colleagues, Binder lost time in the third sector. He explains : " it's the long right turn. We have some instability and a little wiggle in the bike here. It's hard to be consistent. But I believe it's still one of my good areas ».

Binder ends by being modest for Sunday's race. “ I don't set a goal for tomorrow in terms of space. But sixth on the grid is so much better. 16th place on the grid was very difficult last week, especially in the first laps ". Note that only the two official KTMs were able to participate in Q2.
