MotoGP Misano 2 J2, Enea Bastianini (Ducati Q3/S3) reveals a weakness that could cost him dearly

Enea Bastianini did not deserve anything during the Sprint at Misano 2. Despite a good qualifying session, which ended in third place, the Italian was unable to get close to the top two during the race, which is the plan he usually follows. It's a shame, because it deprives us of some fantastic three-way battles. For tomorrow, "Bestia" is hoping for a little more luck, because he could definitely be in the running.

Bastianini was not at the party, but can consider himself happy with his Sprint. As since the beginning of the season, he is very efficient although a notch below Jorge Martin and Pecco Bagnaia. “It’s a nice podium, but I’m only half happy. At the beginning I had problems with the track limits. I did two laps a bit confused, then I got back on track » he said. It is true that "Bestia" had a better start than his teammate Pecco Bagnaia, but he was unable to capitalize on this flight.

 

 

The Italian has great ambitions for tomorrow. In any case, he would like to stay in contact with his two rivals. « I tried to come back, but it was too difficult in 13 laps. For Sunday, I would like to stay in the battle until the last three loops, I think I can do it with a few small changes. Already, for the race, we returned to yesterday's bike. The changes made this morning did not please me. We will have to take a step forward on the electronics. Afterwards, they can also progress, so it remains to be seen. » he added.

He remains hopeful, because two advantages could work in his favor. First, the temperature, and then, above all, the distance. « During testing I had trouble getting the temperature in the tires up, especially on the left.. Tomorrow's heat could help me, and the softs won't even be a choice, I'll have to use the mediums. I like to use the tires later in the race, because I'm delicate in my riding. At the end, I was doing better because I had less weight on the front; I still struggle with a full tank. Tomorrow I hope I can win » he concluded.

 

 

This is the problem that has cost him so much in this 2024 season. Bastianini often has a very strong pace, but struggles to develop it over the entire race. When he is in perfect harmony with his machine, the first ones have already flown away.
