Maverick Vinales

Maverick Viñales continues his learning on an Aprilia which does not yet put him at the top. On the other hand, it gives him enough information to convince him that, under certain conditions, its potential is greater than his old Yamaha. A brand with which exchanges via Lin Jarvis are always full of innuendo, revealing a sort of resentment. And it's not this last explanation that he gives about the performance of his former teammate that will lighten the mood...

Maverick Vinales knows a laborious journey for his reunion with theAprilia on a plot of Misano who had marked an encouraging debut aboard the RS-GP. However, the atmosphere is not one of crisis but rather always one of discovery. There is therefore no pressure, but this work allows comparisons with past experience. Which is, for the Spaniard, the Yamaha .

It did not escape Top Gun that Fabio Quartararo had just achieved his worst qualification in ages in this Grand Prix, while he is in a position to win the title this Sunday. A particular context which, however, has nothing to do with the Frenchman's result. And the Spaniard explains it clearly: “ I don't think Fabio feels the pressure, because he really has the title in his hands » declared Maverick who returns the ball towards the Iwata factory: « but I must say that the Yamaha is really a complicated bike in these conditions, because you have no feedback from behind and you can highside at any time. It's something that takes away a lot of confidence. What I felt when passing the M1 in a wet area was really critical, often in wet and mixed conditions. Only when there is a lack of confidence is it difficult to operate the tires properly ».

Vinales: “ the Aprilia gives you a lot more confidence than the Yamaha«

More Maverick Vinales don't just scratch Yamaha . He makes a disadvantageous comparison for the Japanese with its current Italian machine: “ I don't know how fast I can be with Aprilia in these conditions. I haven't pushed it to the limit yet, but I can say that between FP2 and FP3 we took a big step forward, especially regarding the wet settings. The Aprilia gives you a lot more feedback on what's happening with the tires than the Yamaha, but I know that I am not yet going to the limit with this bike, I am still missing something in different stagess ”.

He finishes : " I feel a lot of traction on the rear and that's something that makes the difference. At Yamaha, the problem was to raise the temperature of the tires quickly, whereas with the RS-GP, you already feel the hot tire when you leave the pit lane and that gives you a lot of confidence. Both bikes have pros and cons, but I can say with certainty that Aprilia gives you more confidence right away ».
