Franco Morbidelli, at home for this Misano 2 Grand Prix, finished in a convincing fifth place. The Italian has been doing much better lately : his early season demons are now behind him. However, he seemed to be heading for a certain sixth place before Fabio Quartararo had fuel problems! A rare occurrence, but one that "Franky" certainly wasn't going to spit on.
Even though this result is very encouraging, especially after this huge accident suffered during the winter tests in Portimao, Franco Morbidelli regrets how his weekend went. « We made a big mistake during testing. We have adapted the settings to the current weather conditions, and we could never change fast enough » he said in the columns of speedweek.

Of course, he did not hide his joy after the arrival, especially since a position was indirectly offered to him by Fabio Quartararo. He is full of praise for the Frenchman. « Despite these few difficulties, we were still able to finish fifth, it's great.. I tried to overtake Fabio everywhere, but it was impossible. He drove very precisely, I was waiting for an error but it never came" he added. Like Johann Zarco in 2017, Quartararo broke down in the final moments at Misano. A curse that refuses to let go of our Frenchies.

"Morbido"'s gaze is now turned towards Asia. Five races will take place on the continent, and it is essential not to miss any of them. "Despite the delays, we have reached a good level. We will have to approach them proudly" he concluded. The podium is not so far away. If the conditions are right, seeing Franco Morbidelli back on the box is absolutely not impossible.
