After the trip across the Atlantic to Austin, Texas, the Michelin Motorsport team and the MotoGP paddock are back in Europe, for the second time this season on the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli (Italy), for the Gran Premio Nolan del Made in Italy e dell'Emilia-Romagna, 16e round of the MotoGP World Championship 2021.

Located on the Adriatic coast, the 4,226 km long circuit is very technical with ten right turns and six left turns, one of the most complicated on the calendar. With its fast curves, slow turns and a short straight of 530 meters, the track is very demanding on the front tire. The range of MICHELIN Power Slicks selected this weekend has been designed to give drivers maximum performance on this track.

The front slick tire allocation for Misano 2021 includes a Soft, Medium and Hard, all symmetrical, while the rear Soft, Medium and Hard are asymmetrical with a harder right side due to a greater number of turns in this direction and greater forces suffered by the tire on that side throughout the 27 laps of the race.

On the Adriatic coast, the circuit called "San Marino Grand Prix" has often been rained out in the past at this time of year. The MICHELIN Power Rain are obviously part of the package. They are available in Soft and Medium symmetrical for the front and Soft and Medium asymmetrical for the rear, again with a reinforced right side to offer the best grip in the wet.

At the gates of Rimini, this event has been a staple of the MotoGP calendar since 2007. Due to Covid-19, capacity was limited to 10 spectators last year. Last September, this quota was increased and for the second visit of MotoGP this year, 000 spectators will be allowed each day, to cheer on their heroes.

Before this second meeting in Misano, Piero Taramasso, Two-Wheel Manager at Michelin Motorsport, said: “Last month, we were very satisfied with the performance of our tires. We had broken three records: Best lap, best race lap and race duration with a very close finish and only three tenths of a second between the first two who were equipped with different rear tires. Bagnaia had chosen the Soft and Quartararo the Medium. »

“We are bringing the same tire allocation this weekend, even if the temperatures could be a little lower and the chance of rain a little higher. I am confident that our slicks and wet tires will give drivers the opportunity to push to the limits to give fans a great weekend of racing whatever the conditions. »

In MotoGP, the action will begin on Friday October 22 with two Free Practice sessions, followed by two more on Saturday before qualifying. The start of the Grand Premio Nolan del Made in Italy e dell'Emilia-Romagna will be given on Sunday October 24 at 14:00 p.m.
