Misano

Pecco Bagnaia put in a sensational performance in qualifying for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, round 14 of the 2024 MotoGP, taking pole position with a new track record at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The Ducati Desmosedici GP 24 Factory rider came close to 1'29, stopping at 1'30.031, a stratospheric time that becomes the fastest ever recorded at this track. It is the 21st pole in MotoGP for the double world champion and the 28th of his career.

The leader of the championship, George Martin, could not compete with the infernal pace of bagnaia, but he still placed second, 0,214 seconds behind his rival. Enea Bastianini, riding the second Ducati Desmosedici GP 24 Factory, completed the front row, finishing 0,533 seconds behind the reference time of bagnaia.

Brad Binder, author of the best time in Q1, opens the second line with the KTM the best placed. The South African will be accompanied by his teammate and rookie Pedro Acosta, who continues to impress with Team GASGAS Tech3. Marco Bezzecchi, on the Ducati of the VR46 team, occupies sixth place and completes this starting line.

Marc Marquez, despite a good overall performance, had to settle for seventh place after a crash in the decisive moment of Q2, his second fall of the day after the one in FP2. The eight-time world champion lost the front of his Ducati Desmosedici GP 23 on Gresini Racing team in both cases, compromising his chances of aiming for a better position.

He will therefore start in the third line, preceding Maverick Vinales, Aprilia's best representative, and Fabio Quartararo, the first rider on a Japanese motorcycle with his Yamaha YZR-M1.

Misano

Franco Morbidelli, on the Ducati Desmosedici GP 24 of Pramac Racing, took tenth place, ahead of the Aprilias ofAleix Espargaró (11th) and Miguel Oliveira (12th), respectively Team Factory and TrackHouse drivers.

Misano

Fabio DiGiannantonio, on the VR46 Racing Team Ducati, will start from 13th position, followed by Raul Fernandez (Aprilia TrackHouse) and Luca Marini (Repsol Honda), which completes a disappointing top 15 for the Japanese manufacturer. Joan mir, 16th, and Johann zarco, 17th, failed to get out of Q1 and will have to fight from the back of the pack.

alex rins, who has been ill since Thursday, was unable to record a timed lap and will not have fully participated in qualifying. His weekend ends there.

As for Alex Marquez, he will start from 21st position, far from his expectations, after a catastrophic qualifying session.

Misano

With this new pole position accompanied by a record, Pecco Bagnaia is ideally placed for Sunday's Grand Prix. George Martin, still leading the championship, and Enea Bastianini will try to challenge the Italian's supremacy on this circuit that he particularly likes. The Sprint race promises to be thrilling with a front row composed exclusively of Ducati, and many drivers ready to fight for the places of honor. While waiting for his departure, here is the table which summarizes the facts known so far.
