The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli was inaugurated on August 4, 1972 under the name «Santa Monica International Circuit» on the Adriatic coast, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna, today also the heart of Motor Valley.

It is therefore celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and there will be numerous celebrations until the Gran Premio di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini which will take place from September 2 to 4, among which we will cite the publication ofa book retracing the history of the legendary circuit.

Being prepared following the work carried out in recent years on the photographic archives in collaboration with the Center for Advanced Studies in Tourism of the University of Bologna, the work will present the first fifty years of life of the Misano World Circuit after a long research work.

The relationship with this region, land of motors par excellence, is the theme of the first part of the book, which traces the evolution of motor racing in Emilia-Romagna until the 1970s, with the birth of the circuit. The central part, on the other hand, traces the history of all the races which, decade after decade, saw the great champions on two and four wheels challenge each other on the asphalt of Santa Monica; at the same time, the evolution of Italy, and of the Riviera Romagna in particular, is the subject of specific in-depth studies.
The last part of the book, entitled “Company”, is rather a tribute to those who, over the years, have brought success to the circuit, which has become today more than ever an authentic synonym for racing and passion!

The book is edited by Marco Montemaggi with a cover designed by Aldo Drudi which we no longer present.
Giorgio Nada Editor with many thanks to the scientific committee composed of Marco Masetti, Sergio Remondino, Luigi Rivola, Davide Bagnaresi and Andrea Albani.

The official presentation will take place during the Grand Prix in September! Currently available for pre-order on Amazon.

Another celebration, an exhibition “50 Shooting of Racing” of 50 photos of which you can be the author of the last one, since the competition to complete the exhibition of photos retracing the most extraordinary moments of these first 50 years is open to all. To participate and enter the history of Misano with your own photo, you can post it on your INSTAGRAM profile with the hashtag #mwc50shots .

Other surprises are planned…
