MotoGP, Misano Race LIVE: Marc Marquez controls Bezzecchi, Bagnaia in the pile!

The race has started in Misano for the San Marino Grand Prix, which marks the last European stage of the calendar before the trip overseas.

Marco Bezzecchi qualified on pole for the second time with Aprilia, as he did in Austria earlier this year. He took his second Sprint victory so far, with Assen in 2023. He became the first rider to take Sprint wins with two different manufacturers (Ducati and Aprilia). He will now aim for his second MotoGP victory so far this year, with Silverstone, and his fifth overall to add to the victories in Argentina, France, and India in 2023.

Alex Marquez qualified second for his 12th top-three qualifying result so far this year and his best MotoGP qualifying result at Misano. He finished P2 for his 12th podium in Sprint so far this season, and his first since also finishing second in Austria earlier this year. He will be aiming for his third MotoGP victory, his first in back-to-back races in the class (after winning last week in Barcelona).

Ducati is on the front line for the 96nd GP in a row, a sequence that began in Valencia in 2020.

fabio quartararo qualified third, via Q1, for his eighth top-three qualifying finish so far this season. This is the sixth consecutive weekend that a driver has progressed from Q1 to the front row.

Since the Sprint at Misano, Pecco Bagnaia is mathematically excluded from the title race

Marc Marquez qualified fourth, equaling his worst qualifying result of the season so far ahead of Silverstone, Assen and Austria. He crashed after taking the lead in the Sprint, ending a streak of 15 consecutive sprints finishing 1st or 2nd (since the opening in Thailand). He was the only rider to score points in every Sprint this year.

He leads the World Championship with 487 points, now 173 points ahead Alex, and will have a chance to clinch the title at the next GP in Japan, regardless of the result of Sunday's GP race.

Pecco Bagnaia qualified seventh for his best qualifying since qualifying third in Austria earlier this year, but it was his second-worst MotoGP qualifying result at Misano after qualifying 13th in his rookie year in 2019.

He finished 13th, equaling his second-worst sprint result so far this season with Hungary. He is still third in the championship, but 250 points behind Marc Marquez, which means that the 2025 world champion will be Marc Marquez or Alex Marquez.
