Ducati

Ducati seems to have learned a lot from this victory in Austria which brought its rider Pecco Bagnaia into the good statistics, with his now three victories in a row in one season. However, he will be able to win as many as he wants until the end of this campaign, it will be of no use to him in the quest for the brand's first world title under the Gigi Dall'Igna era if Fabio Quartararo, the angry tattooed Yamaha commando, finished second behind him. So, in Misano, which is the next event on the MotoGP calendar, we must expect a major offensive from the Red Army…

Austria may have been a satisfaction for Pecco Bagnaia, Ducati does not, however, practice burying its head in the sand. The Italian has four successes this year, but the rest of his results are marked by retirements. At the Red Bull Ring, he achieved this for the third time in a row, and that's no small thing in a career. Few pilots have done it. Casey Stoner was the only Ducati rider to do so in 2008. Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa, Marc Marquez et Valentino Rossi have also won at least three races in a row. Not bad. However, if we bring this feat back to the context of the current title race, this record is only for glory.

Indeed, in the same Styrian plain, the championship leader finished in a remarkable second position with a Yamaha who does not have the intrinsic qualities to produce such a performance. The latter is therefore the prerogative of its driver and his team who have opted for shorter ratios. He only dropped five points on a pitch where we feared our Frenchman would take a suitcase. He still has 44 steps ahead of the official Ducati, third overall, and there are only seven Grands Prix left... Do the math: if he only loses 5 units each time, he keeps his crown.

We expect developments at Ducati in Misano

So, we must do better at Ducati. To count only on a misstep from the reigning World Champion would be to be guilty of being short-sighted. So we work... With seven other machines on the track, it's time to think about stopping this frenzied M1. Gigi Dall'Igna and her staff have already started to spread the message before going to Misano. But that's not all. Technology will also come into play.

We thus learn from GP One which Michele Pirro, the test driver, toured with the GP22 at Misano. The Italian tried new features in terms of chassis and electronics in an attempt to improve the performance of the Desmosedici. It will now be necessary to understand whether these developments will already be useful next weekend or will be further evaluated during testing. Misano after the race in preparation for next season…
