Marco Bezzecchi's home race weekend ended in disappointing fashion in the Sprint Race of the Grand Prix of San Marino and Riviera di Rimini at Misano. After a solid qualifying session that saw him on the front row, everything seemed to be going well for the VR46 rider. However, things quickly became complicated in the opening corners.
« It's a pity that we have ended the day in the gravel, it could have been a great Saturday », lamented Bezzecchi after his fall. Starting from third place on the grid, Marco Bezzecchi was immediately caught in traffic at the first corner, losing ground and finding himself in eighth position at the end of the first lap.
Despite this difficult start, the Italian rider did not give up and tried to get back into the pack. I didn't have a bad start, but at the first corner I couldn't brake as well as I would have liked and the descent device did not unlock properly ", he explained. This situation forced him to concede places, and although he fought to regain them, a strange feeling at the front of the bike prevented him from performing as he would have liked.
Marco Bezzecchi: “ I had a weird feeling in the front »
Trying to push harder to find his rhythm again, Bezzecchi brushed the white line at turn 2 and lost the front, which led to his crash. I tried to recover, but I had a weird feeling in the front, especially on the left side. I brushed the white line and could do nothing to avoid falling. »
Despite this setback, the pilot of the VR46 does not lose hope for the main race. Aware that Sunday will be a difficult day, he maintains a combative state of mind. Tomorrow will be very hard, but I think that Top 5 is a possibility and the podium, a dream. We don't give up ", concluded the Italian driver with determination.
With plenty of races still to come and a solid place in the standings, Marco Bezzecchi keeps his eyes fixed on the goal of finishing the season strong.
