With 31° in the air, it is a fabio quartararo  Overall satisfied but literally thirsty who presented himself for his debriefing in front of the journalists at the end of the Grand Prix MotoGP of San Marino on the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

After finishing 9th in the Sprint on Saturday, El Diablo crossed the GP finish line in 7th position, 3 seconds behind 4th. This is certainly not a sign that the M1's problems are solved, but it is always good to take, while allowing to confirm the analysis of his driver.

As usual, we report here his words during his debriefing, without the slightest formatting, even if it is translated from English for the first part.

fabio quartararo : “It was a nice race, a fun race. We can clearly see our weak point compared to the others, but at least it’s nice to see some people who have been fighting several times this year for podiums, as you know, Alex Marquez last week was in P3. So it was nice. I mean Alex was fighting for the podium last week with Pecco in Aragon, we fought and we finished very, very close to him. No, I mean it’s better because I think, you know, like I said, you fight with people that you’re used to fighting and in the end I think it’s quite, quite interesting to see what their bikes do, and unfortunately I totally see what we’re missing and that’s exactly the feedback I give to the team, so it’s positive again.”

On the choice of whether to go back to the box or not…
“You know, I think fortunately the track dried pretty quickly. So I think one more lap in the rain and it would have been critical. I could see on the kerbs that if you leaned a little bit, the bike would completely spin. So I think one more lap would have been a good time to switch to wet tyres. You know, for me, I had nothing to lose. I mean, if I put the wet tyres on, I knew I would finish behind. So I thought I had something to play for and even if some people went to the pits, I was prepared to stay on the track.”

Consultation with the team before the race…
"Yes, we talk, but you know, sometimes even if it's a little bit, I think two or three more laps like that, there would have been rain and it would have been easy to crash. So yes, you have to play, but up to a certain limit."

Who's deciding ?
"The team is always ready, but in the end it's me who says when I stop. They are always ready to change bikes, but it's not the team who tells me to come back."

Jorge Martin’s choice…
"L
a, it was too early and I think that not everyone was coming back. So I think that there was no point in coming back, and especially seeing that the others stayed on the track, so I did the same thing. It was starting to get hot. I think he bet that the rain was going to fall again, and if it had rained more on this lap, he would have come out in front with a good lead. But the rain stopped. The team told me it was going to rain like that for 15 minutes, so I guess it was time to do that."

Can you learn anything from following fast motorcycles?
"Not only did I learn, I also saw the negative points of our bike. It's good to have had a race where we finished less than 3 seconds behind 4th. It's cool, but we can clearly see what we're missing, and it's grip, speed, we're not going fast enough."

Less grip during the drops, was this a favorable or unfavorable factor?
" NOT
on, because it was wet. There was less grip because it was wet, but then the grip still remained, and the conditions were quite good, I don't know the fastest lap in the race, but in my opinion it must have been a 31.6 or 31.7, right? It's better that there is more grip, but the problem is the same. The less grip, the more gap. On a track like that, the grip is pretty good, so oWe see that it was not catastrophic either, but we missed quite a bit of (inaudible).

If it hadn't been for the raindrops...
"Same position. After that it's difficult, because I think that the riders who went out on soft tyres did well with the rain, because there were 5 or 6 laps where the pace really got slower and slower. We did laps in 36 I think, 36, 35, 33, it took a while to get back to 32, so I think that especially Alex Marquez, he had (inaudible)."

The private test tires and the race weekend tires…
"It was the same tires. The conditions were a little bit less good and In the end, we started in the first session with a bike with a totally different geometry, a different chassis, different settings, so it didn't really help. It helped especially in sector 3 to take my references more quickly, but it wouldn't have really changed our weekend."
