Peter Acosta

Pedro Acosta had an intense and promising weekend at the Grand Prix of San Marino and Rimini Riviera in Misano. After a fine sixth place in the Tissot Sprint, the Spanish hopeful had high ambitions for the main race. Starting from fifth, Acosta quickly climbed to fourth position, showing an excellent start. However, the uncertain weather conditions added a dose of complexity to the race strategy.

The young pilot Tech3 was aggressive and competitive in the early laps, but an overtaking attempt on Franco Morbidelli went wrong, damaging his bike. Shortly after, on the fourth lap, Acosta crashed, losing many positions. Trying to salvage what he could, he opted for a bike change with rain tires, but the light rain made this strategy ineffective, forcing him to pit again to change to slick tires. Despite his efforts, Peter Acosta finished the race in 17th position, far from podium hopes.

« The weekend was positive, because even if the race did not end as planned, This is the weekend where we were most competitive.. We have always been in the top 10, which shows that we are improving. The crash is disappointing, but we once again had the opportunity to fight for the podium, and that remains a good thing. The start was strong, and it helps to be in the race from the start. ", said Acosta, taking the necessary step back from a difficult race.

Pedro Acosta: “ With my damaged bike I was able to open up a gap with the other riders »

Peter Acosta recognized that the influence of Franco Morbidelli in the first laps slowed him down, but he was satisfied with the pace displayed: " I tried to overtake Morbidelli, but I touched him and that damaged my bike. The pace was nevertheless fast., and I was able to open up a gap with the other drivers. We were aggressive, but perhaps a little too much at the beginning, burning our tires faster than expected »

Acosta also reflected on the ongoing problems since the British Grand Prix: "I already had problems at Silverstone, especially with the instability and the blocking of the bike. These problems have reappeared here, and it has been complicated in some fast corners. We must continue to look for solutions so that it affects us less »

Despite the disappointment, Acosta remains optimistic for the future. Further testing is planned for Misano, and the young prodigy does not intend to give up: " we will continue to work hard tomorrow during the tests. There will be a lot of things to test and I'm going without expectations., but with the hope of improving our package »

Regarding Marc Marquez, who won his second consecutive victory, Acosta highlighted his intelligence in racing: “ Marc was the smartest today, not necessarily the fastest. Sometimes that's what makes the differenceHe knew how to manage the race and made the right decisions at the right time. »

With a bittersweet weekend in Misano, Pedro Acosta may have failed to realise his ambitions in the main race, but he has come away with important lessons for the rest of the season.
