Charles Pernat

We took advantage of the San Marino Grand Prix to ask the very experienced Charles Pernat who was his favorite for the 2022 MotoGP world champion title.

Without naming fabio quartararo, still leader of the general classification with 32 points ahead of Aleix Espargaró and 44 on a Francis Bagnaia which remains on three consecutive victories, we have chosen to oppose the two sides of the Alps in a simplified question: Who will be world champion this year? France or Italy?

Charles Pernat : “The colors are almost the same, but for the third suitor, no (laughs)! It's difficult for Fabio because there are a lot of Ducati who want to fight to put him behind. He is all alone against everyone, with a bike that is surely a little inferior to the Ducati! But when it comes to driving, he's the best, honestly! He has to use his head. At this point in the championship, it's a head problem. Steering and leading. The situation is not easy for him. »

But, with Jack Miller leaving, with Jorge Martín not being chosen, with Johann Zarco still looking for his first victory, just like Luca Marini and Marco Bezzecchi, will the Ducati respect a team instructions on the contrary implicit or explicit, or sharing the successes?
“I think it's normal that when you have six or seven bikes that are very strong, you do this thing a little bit. You're not saying you shouldn't win, no, but there has to be respect between the drivers who are looking to put Fabio behind, and that's normal. I've done things like that myself! It's an additional chance that Fabio doesn't have: At Yamaha, the others don't exist, at Ducati, there is this chance and it's normal. How many years has it been since they won the world championship? Since 2007 (laughs)! It's sure that it's not easy, because Fabio always has a lot of advantage points: We will always have to arrive in front of him, and he must not be second. Third minimum. But it's open! »

Carlo, you have to get wet: France or Italy?
“The heart says Italy, but Fabio is a friend, and friendship is France. »
