For FP1 of the sixteenth of its 22 rounds, the world championship MotoGP returns to the Adriatic and, for the 32nd time, to its very famous Misano circuit called Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
After his brother's victory Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) in Barcelona, Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) will not be able to be titled on the lands of Valentino Rossi, but he will be able to secure his first match point in Japan by obtaining a 7e place ou better in le Sprint, ce here seems acquired in advance. With 182 points difference between the two brothers, theThe game therefore seems to be over, even if the many teams and drivers in the region will try to shine by playing at home.
For third place in the general classification, Francis Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) found some breathing space in the face of the comeback of the unfortunate Rimini rider Marco Bezzecchi
(Aprilia Racing), harpooned in Barcelona by Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) in the Sprint and franc Morbidely (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) in the GP.
The gap has therefore increased from 31 points to 40 units, but this seems relatively little to stem the scorpion's progression...
Just behind the latter, Peter Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), on a positive trend since Brno, has returned to 14 points behind the Aprilia rider, now 22 points ahead of the duo of Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, franc Morbidely et Fabio Di Giannantonio, tied.
Among the trio behind, Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) was the one who benefited the most from the Catalan weekend, taking the advantage over both Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) and Johann zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR).
Finally, how can we not talk about the other KTMs after their demonstration in Barcelona? Yes Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing precedes Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3) by 11 points in the championship, the latter, who will play at home, seems to have the wind in his sails despite his separation from his crew chief Alberto Giribuola.
Many other interests are still on the program, whether they are called George Martin (Aprilia Racing), Maverick Vinales (Red Bull KTM Tech3) or the wild card ofAugusto Fernandez on the Yamaha V4…

That's a quick overview of the situation.

To write this sixteenth chapter of the 2025 MotoGP season, it will be necessary to cover the track 13 times. 4226 meters in Saturday's Sprint and complete 27 laps on Sunday.

For Michelin, this will not present any particular difficulty, as explained Piero Taramasso, manager of the Michelin Motorsport 2 Wheels competition.
« Misano is a circuit we know very well, as it is used all year round for private testing. We therefore have a large amount of data, which allows us to arrive with a perfectly adapted tire allocation. We decided to repeat the same approach as on other recent circuits like Balaton and Barcelona: a symmetrical Soft and Medium at the front, and a Hard that combines the stiffer casing with the Medium compound. This choice offers an ideal balance between consistency, stability and feel for the rider.
At the rear, we're sticking with the two Soft and Medium specifications that were so successful last year. They're asymmetrical, with a reinforced right shoulder, essential at Misano given the ten right-hand turns. This circuit is less harsh on tires than Barcelona: the asphalt's natural grip is better, top and average speeds are lower, and there's no relief. But Misano remains demanding for the front, especially in sections like Curvone or Tramonto, where the precision and stability of the front tire are crucial.
We're expecting a competitive weekend, with mild weather and an exceptional atmosphere thanks to the fervor of the fans. And starting Monday, we'll be back on track for an official test with our partners, continuing our preparations for next season. It's always a great time to fine-tune the settings and confirm that our range is ready to take on the challenges ahead. »

On the other hand, according to the engineers of Brembo, the 4,226 km long Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli is ranked among the most demanding circuits for braking systems.
On a scale of 1 to 6, it gets a difficulty rating of 4, with 11 braking zones per lap: 3 in the High category, 6 in the Medium category and 2 in the Light category, for a total of 28,5 seconds spent braking. Throughout the race, each driver will exert a total load on the brake lever of more than 1,1 tonnes, or the second highest figure of the season after the Austrian Grand Prix.

Among the current MotoGP riders on the grid, the winners of previous editions are: Marc Marquez (2015, 2017,
2019, 2021/2, 2024/1), Francis Bagnaia (2021/1, 2022), Franco Morbidelli (2020 / 1),
Maverick Vinales (2020 / 2), Jorge Martin (2023) et Enea Bastianini
(2024 / 2).
Furthermore, George Martin won 2 Sprints (2023, 2024/1), Francis Bagnaia 1 (2024/2)
5 drivers have already taken pole position: Maverick Vinales (4) Francis Bagnaia (4) Marc Marquez (1) Jack Miller (1) and George Martin (1)
The records are set in 1'30.031 (Francesco Bagnaia) since 2024, and 305,9 km/h for the speed per George Martin since 2024.
At the last edition in 2024, Enea Bastianini won the GP in front of Jorge Martin et Marc Marquez, while the Sprint podium was made up of Francesco Bagnaia, George Martin et Enea Bastianini.
For the 16th round of a 22-round season, the weekend was sunny with a little uncertainty for Sunday morning.

This morning, during FP1, it is Franco Morbidelli who finished at the top of the timesheet, despite missing the first ten minutes. The Italian had received a penalty after disobeying the track marshals in Barcelona last weekend. This first place allowed him to start his home Grand Prix on a positive note after taking his penalty. The same goes for his teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio, who took third place.
The two VR46 teammates were unable to achieve a double since fabio quartararo came between them. The brothers Marquez completed the top 5.
A big first this morning, the Yamaha equipped with a V4 entered the track with Augusto Fernandez on her handlebars, but experienced a premature end to the session with a technical problem. She is expected to be in good shape this afternoon.
While waiting to discover more, as the 23 drivers prepare, under a slightly overcast sky, with temperatures of 28° in the air and 37° on the ground, for this 60-minute pre-qualifying practice, let's take advantage of these few moments of live coverage thanks to the official website MotoGP.com :
