After a mixed first day, Fabio Quartararo was the first to be surprised by his pace in qualifying, and will start from the front row in the race.
As is often the case for several Grand Prix, everything seems possible for fabio quartararo, both positive and negative, as the Yamaha is inconsistent depending on the circuit. At the end of the first day of testing, the Frenchman was far from optimistic after missing Q2 by just a tenth, and did not expect to be competitive this Saturday.
This morning during FP2, he seemed to pick up the pace and finished in seventh place which gave hope for good things for Q1. Quarterly often knowing how to create surprises on the timed lap, he managed to save himself for Q2 by achieving a very solid 1'30″481, the best time of yesterday achieved by Marc Márquez.
Although it took him several laps to gain momentum in Q2, the #20 driver finally claimed third place on his final flying lap, and even seemed frustrated to have missed out on pole position by 94 thousandths of a second. In any case, he will start from the front row for both races, which gives him an opportunity to secure a good result and finish his weekend much better than he started it.

“To be honest, I think it was one of our toughest weekends this season, but we managed to manage it really well. We worked really well yesterday with the team to try to avoid the problems we had. I always put a lot of energy into a lap, I know that's my biggest strength, but today I didn't expect to be third, and especially to do this lap. I made a few mistakes, but thanks to the team, who did a really great job, my chief mechanic, my engineers... We'll see what we can do during the race.”, he declared hot on the microphone of MotoGP.com.
