Very fast since the start of the weekend, Marco Bezzecchi took pole position on his home turf, at Misano.
Marco Bezzecchi confirmed his great form this Saturday on his favorite circuit, which is a few kilometers from his home. The Italian driver had already had a solid first day yesterday finishing second in the Practice, and was announced as one of the competitors for pole position.
However, true to form, he had been cautious, knowing that Saturday morning remains his weak point of the weekend. This time, he was able to turn a corner, just like the Ducati riders he saw as his main rivals. He thus finished first in FP2, a result that bodes well for the qualifications.
At the top of the order throughout Q2, he finally took pole position on his final flying lap, winning by 88 seconds over Álex Márquez. This is his second pole of the season, following the Austrian Grand Prix which saw him finish fourth in the sprint race and third in the main race. This time, Bezzecchi seems to have a little something extra, but everything remains to be done to lead the Aprilia to victory on its home turf.
“It’s fantastic! I had a really good lap, a really good morning overall. I’m really happy with my performance. The team did a great job, of course, and the bike was really good. I had fun riding, and the fans are getting bigger every day, so I’m happy to put on a good show for them. Now we have to focus on this afternoon’s race, and especially tomorrow’s.”, he declared hot on the microphone of MotoGP.com.
