After Jerez and the Red Bull Ring, the MotoGP continental circus is preparing for its third consecutive series of races on the same circuit, this time in Misano.

This means that Aprilia will be playing on home turf, at one of the tracks where it was able to test with the revamped 2020 RS-GP. In addition to the new asphalt, which will undergo the test of the race for the first time, another novelty will be materialized by the presence of fans in the stands, although in a limited way and in compliance with anti-Covid-19 regulations.

Until now and in the absence of Andrea Iannone, Aleix Espargaro endured the first part of a demanding season busy developing a new project lacking kilometers. The effects of the pandemic, which effectively interrupted this development process after winter testing, forced the Noale team and drivers to work overtime and request special accommodations.

In total, the Spaniard has 15 points in the championship, but this does not fully reflect his situation since, after two blank results in Jerez, he still qualified his new RS-GP in 4th position in Brno!

Aprilia having already carried out tests on the new Misano surface, this could very well be the right place for a rebound to reward the men of Noale, whose stronghold is located 250 kilometers away, near Venice.

Aleix I will espargaro : " The first races confirmed what I expected after the winter tests, that the new RS-GP is a big step forward for Aprilia. That said, we have still not managed to fully exploit the potential we have. Each weekend, one factor led to results that didn't exactly reflect my feeling in the saddle. Misano, a track where our bike works well and where we have been testing, could be the right opportunity to come full circle and aim for the positions we deserve. »
