Jack Miller had a run of bad luck at the Italian GP and was forced to retire due to a series of problems with his Yamaha.
Like the other Yamaha riders, Jack Miller had a complicated weekend at the Mugello circuit. And, even worse than the other three representatives of the Japanese brand, he was unable to complete the Grand Prix on Sunday due to several technical problems.
Despite starting 13th on the grid, which could have quickly allowed him to reach the top 10, the Australian dropped to 18th place on the first lap due to a clutch problem, which continued to hamper him. Add to that the loss of a wing and then a fuel problem, he tried to manage as best he could and had climbed back to 15th position when he was forced to retire on the tenth lap of the race.
A frustrating situation, but Miller would probably have still been in difficulty if he had been able to reach the finish, since Miguel Oliveira, Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins finished 13th, 14th and 15th respectively. He now leaves the Grand Prix behind him and focuses on the next one, which will be held this weekend in the Netherlands.
“Right from the start, the clutch almost fried when I released it, even though I had a good start. For the first three laps, it was slipping a lot. I was shortening the gears everywhere, trying to get it going again. It recovered a little, but as soon as I hit a bump, it felt like a blow and I was thrown to the outside. I was overtaken by everyone.”he said.
“After contact with someone on the first lap, I also lost a wing, which made me move all over the place. Then we had a fuel problem that made the bike even more aggressive. At that point, it was almost impossible to ride. I tried to continue, but in the end I had to retire. It was difficult, but we'll start from scratch and move forward.”
