Assen Maverick Vinales

Maverick Vinales' Saturday in Assen is quite special. Indeed, he was not ridiculous, far from it, with very good speed during qualifying which allowed him to start from third row. Then, a solid Sprint led to a third place finish, a new podium in the short format. On the one hand, it's reassuring, but on the other, Jorge Martin and above all, Pecco Bagnaia were far away. The difference could be demoralizing, especially since the cathedral is one of “Top Gun’s” favorite tracks. Regardless, he promises to keep pushing, to try again and again to get closer to victory.

Maverick Vinales has reason to be happy. “My team did a fantastic job. With all the transfer rumors, it's not that simple. Today I rode well, that's for sure, but not enough to stay with Bagnaia and Martin. » If he admits to having had “some overheating problems”, he in no way blames his equipment or his choice of tire. “Pecco was much faster, I am satisfied with my place at the finish » he declared.

Once again, the Ducatis are the fastest. Like everywhere for two years, basically. Maverick Vinales prefers to have fun with it. « If there was no Ducati, I would lead the championship! They are fast, that’s obvious, but I have a little idea for tomorrow, which concerns the choice of tires” he added.

The Aprilia sharpens over the races, but the natural irregularity of Maverick Vinales moderates this phenomenon. However, he insists on the progress made by the Noale firm. « Two races ago I had a lot of vibration, but I didn't have that problem at Assen. This is good, because when I have this phenomenon, the tires deteriorate more quickly, and my race is ruined. We must not give up » concluded the Spaniard.
