The facts were already known but the news is now official: the Piaggio Group announces that from January 7, 2019, Massimo Rivola will assume the responsibilities of CEO of Aprilia Racing. He will therefore be the boss and Romano Albesiano will be able to concentrate on technique.

Aged 47, graduated in business, passionate about motorcycles and the Aprilia brand, Massimo rivola has the experience of twenty-one seasons and more than 300 GP races in F1. Twelve years in the pit lane with Minardi, Toro Rosso and, with seven seasons, he was the longest-serving sporting director in Ferrari history. He has worked with great champions including Fernando Alonso et Sebastian Vettel. For three years, he has been at the head of the Ferrari Driver Academy, bringing a young Charles Leclerc of an F3 at the wheel of an F1 from Maranello.

The appointment of Massimo rivola, who brings to MotoGP his extensive experience accumulated in Formula 1, is another important step on the path to the consolidation of the Noale racing department.

With this addition, Aprilia Racing continues its growth after the arrival ofAndrea Iannone, a high-level driver, who will ride alongsideAleix Espargaró reconfirmed, the arrival of Bradley Smith as test pilot and the addition of two new team leaders with proven experience, Antonio Jimenez et Fabrizio Cecchini.
