MV Agusta Forward

When KTM, and more precisely Pierer Mobility AG, took control of MV Agusta, the idea of seeing the coat of arms so precious to Giacomo Agostini appear in the new premier category of Grands Prix that is MotoGP immediately arose. A prospect dreamed out loud in the very ranks of the Austrian brand with the team manager of the official team Guidotti. But it's still just a dream. The reality, on the other hand, is harsher: MV Agusta has completely disappeared from the landscape since its adventure with the Forward team has just ended.

There had been water in the water for a while and the agreement had been floundering for just as long, so this fatal outcome should not come as a surprise. It remains that after 5 years old partnership in the World Championship Moto2, the collaboration between Forward and the motorcycle brand MV Agusta end. “ After careful consideration, Forward Team has decided to independently continue the development project, the intellectual property of which belongs to the Italian-Swiss racing team ».

And for what reason ? The answer is clear and it is given by the boss Giovanni Cuzari himself: “ the economic demands of MV Agusta are too high, considering the sole use of the brand in racing ". Rumor speaks of a requested sum of 200.000 euros.

Forward

Without MV Agusta, Forward enters Moto2 as the third manufacturer alongside Kalex and Boscoscuromoto

« I wish MV Agusta the best, proud to have written a few little pieces of history with the Schiranna brand in recent seasons » continued the owner of the team who did not end his subject with this break-up announcement. He adds in fact: “ the future is upon us and the Forward team is working to develop the 2023 project with significant ambitions and a great desire to return to success ».

A mention which means that Forward returns as a constructor, joining Kalex and Boscoscuromoto. In 2023, the team will field Alex Escrig et Marcos Ramirez at the World Championship. It will continue to have a development team of budding champions who will compete in the FIM Junior GP with two drivers.

As the precise speedweek, the feeling of accomplishment with MV Agusta is not there. As feats of arms, there are only two pole positions, in 2020 with Stefano Manzi and in 2021 with Simone Courses, both in Valencia. In 2022, MV Agusta finished last with Courses et Ramirez in the constructors' championship with only five points...
