All the protagonists in the MotoGP Grand Prix category will now soon be flying off for the four-race tour of Asia-Oceania which will start with Thailand in a week, and their motorcycles, locked in aviation crates from Aragón, should hardly see any changes between now and the end of the season...

It is quite different for the first 2020 MotoGP prototypes which continue to clock up kilometers during private tests.

Thus, the teams Red Bull KTM Factory Racing et Aprilia Racing Team Gresini remained in Aragón for three days this week, with respectively Mika Kallio and Dani Pedrosa for the Austrian firm, as well as Bradley Smith for its Italian competitor.

We remind you that private tests are only limited by the quantity of tires authorized, whether for official drivers or for test drivers: 120 units.

Test tire allocation:
Machine development is limited by the allocation of test tires. The allowance is not transferable from one team or manufacturer to another and is provided only by the official tire supplier, as follows:

  • All factory teams: 120 tires per contracted driver per season. These tires may be used by a test driver, or the team's contracted drivers in compliance with articles 1.15.1.1.1.Ai) and j) and 1.15.1.1.1.B, above.
  • All non-factory teams: 120 tires per contracted driver per season. These tires are reserved for the exclusive use of drivers under contract of the team and are only subject to articles 1.15.1.1.1.Ai) and j) and 1.15.1.1.1.B, above.
  • The test tires will be of the same specification as those already allocated in previous races or official tests, or those appearing in the section provided by the tire supplier before the start of the season. New tire specifications may be provided for testing purposes, but these will not be included in a race allocation until they have been tested during an official test.
  • Tires for contracted drivers during official testing will be subject to the obligation to meet the requirements of article 2.4.4.9.9. A), B), C) and will not be counted as part of the test tire allocation.

At Ducati, we preferred to kill two birds with one stone by rotating Michele Pirro (Ducati Team) from Tuesday to yesterday, four days, on the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia. The recent Italian Superbike champion, who will be present as a wildcard during the last race of the season, was thus able to prepare for the latter with an evolved version of the GP19 with a view to 2020...

Finally, similar approach in Suzuki where Sylvain Guintoli will refine the 2020 configuration of the GSX-RR this week at Motegi, where he had already tested last July… and where he will make his last wildcard of the year.

Of course, the teams never communicate about their private tests.
