Marc Márquez thought he would have a refreshing winter break this year after having had to recover from a delicate operation on his left shoulder a year ago. But that was without counting on the first of two days of the Jerez tests during which the Honda official fell heavily on a right shoulder already crumpled since qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix. Here is Marc Marquez leaving for surgery and convalescence…

Marc Marquez will not take advantage of their eighth title won after an exemplary season of lazing around. This Wednesday, he went to see his best friends who are now the experts making up the doctor's team Mir in Barcelona to treat a bruised right shoulder.

The intervention was announced as successful and the champion is now resting. He should be released within 48 hours from the Quirón–Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona. The operation was performed by the same doctors who had worked on the left shoulder just a year ago. They were doctors Xavier Mir, Victor Marlet and Teresa Marlet, all members of ICATME (Catalan Institute of Traumatology and Sports Medicine). According to information revealed by his Repsol Honda team, the operation on this right shoulder was similar to that carried out on the other joint, but less intrusive.

If everything goes normally, Marc Márquez will be discharged on Friday and will begin recovery at Cervera, then will face winter training which will put him in the best conditions for the Sepang test, the starting point of the 2020 campaign.
